Rooster Rehoming

At our second location in Pierce County, we take in unwanted roosters. We have a large bachelor pad where roosters get to roam and play on a few acres out of view of the ladies. We do rotate the boys into the flock of ladies so they have their turn at being protectors and get to be handsome gentlemen. 

The eggs from our ladies at this second location are only used as eating eggs since we take in so many birds from outside sources. 

RESCUES

We also take in injured and special needs poultry at our second location to try and rehabilitate them. Its not always successful depending on the condition, but we have saved many birds with bad injuries. If you have an injured bird you don't want to cull, we are happy to take it in to try to give them a chance at recovering. ( Please note, we are not veterinarians, just farmers with some medical background and we try to help the best we can). We do not typically take in sick birds due to so many poultry illnesses being contagious and spreadable even through eggs, unless its something like coccidiosis, mites, sour crop or egg peritonitis.

All new birds brought in are quarantined for a minimum of 30 days after their injuries have been treated.

 

Injuries we have experience treating:

Pecked eyes

Puncture wounds

Skinning

Bumblefoot (including ones that need surgical removal)

Flystrike

Breaks

Broken Beaks

Impacted crop (requiring procedure removal)

Splay leg

Slipped tendon (have been successful in turkeys and Emus)

Ruptured Air Sacs
